Dawn Carlson, President and Chief Executive Officer
Dawn Carlson is the President and chief executive of the Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Stores of Iowa. Dawn is responsible for the overall administration of three corporations: PMCI, PMCI Services, Inc. and the PMCI Trust, LLC as well as, implementing the policies of the Board of Directors. Dawn oversees the association’s lobbying efforts, political fundraising, marketing, public relations, publishing and communications, finance and overall operations in addition to overseeing the business services and health and employee benefit programs offered to members.
After graduation from Iowa State University in the 1980’s, Dawn worked as Director of Government Affairs for the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives. In 1995, Dawn joined PMCI as Director of Government Relations and was promoted to Vice President and then retained as President in 2003. Dawn is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Iowa Society of Association Executives; a director for the Iowa Biodiesel Board, a Governor-appointed member of the Keep Iowa Clean & Beautiful Task Force; and a member of the Iowa Tobacco Advisory Committee.
